Our Story
In 1995 Richard and Rachel Lin immigrated from Taiwan to Calgary, Alberta with their two kids. As a family of vegetarians, they set out to pursue their dream of sourcing their own food, and also sharing the joy of vegetarianism with others. In 1996, DSI (Dah Shin International) was created.
Beginning as a small mom and pop operation, DSI started out by selling tofu and other soy-based vegetarian products to local stores in Calgary from the back of a minivan. Decades later, DSI has grown to become one of the leading tofu distributors and vegetarian food experts in Western Canada (while still feeding their own family!).
Fun fact: “Dah Shin” in Mandarin directly translates to “big trust”. This name was chosen for the company in hopes that customers will trust the quality and passion put towards our products.
